The countdown has begun for the Engie Kitesurf Challenge, an event as valid as first stage of the Big Air Championship and final of the CKWI - FIV National Freestyle Championship which will be staged from 1 to 3 July in the Stagnone of Marsala.
By now summer has arrived at the Stagnone and for all kitesurfing enthusiasts this year there is one more reason to enjoy this wonderful Italian spot of international fame. In fact, it is here that the Engie Kitesurf Challenge takes place on 1, 2 and 3 July, an event valid as the first stage of the Big Air Championship and the final of the CKWI - FIV National Freestyle Championship.
Organized by Antonio Gaudini, entrepreneur and popularizer of kitesurfing in Italy and sponsored by the multinational Engie, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, theEngie Kitesurf Challenge 2021 it will take place at the school premises Stagnone Kiteboarding located in the old surf village in the Birgi district. Two events are scheduled: the Freestyle race, valid as the final of the Italian Championship which will see the best national athletes of the discipline compete against each other and a competition dedicated to Big Air in which the athletes will show the highest jumps using the propulsion of the kite. For all the athletes competing there is also a rich prize pool of 1,500 euros to be distributed on the first three steps of the podium and registration for the event completely free for the first 20 athletes who will contact the race committee.
Still a few free registrations for Freestyle and Big Air
And there are already many riders from all over Italy who have completed their registrations. Among them true champions such as the legendary Erik Volpe, holder of 4 Italian titles and two Junior world titles or the reigning Italian champion Francesca Bagnoli, but also small champions, such as the two locals Zaira and Chiara of 11 years. This is a real kitesurfing festival open to everyone. There are only a few days left until the event, so go under with the registrations and don't miss the free seats to participate in these exciting competitions.
The "Main Event" in the frame of the Marsala Kite Fest
We remember that the Engie Kitesurf Challenge represents the flagship event of the Marsala Kite Fest, an event organized from 28 June to 4 July byAssociazione Sport Turismo Stagnone with the patronage of the Regional Department of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment, the Sicilian Regional Assembly and the Municipality of Marsala. During the Marsala Kite Fest for those wishing to try the sport of kitesurfing for the first time, the over 20 schools of the Stagnone will make their equipment and instructors available free of charge for the "baptism of the sea", ie a first free lesson. There are also themed evenings at the beach clubs in the Birgi Vecchi area with live music and wine tastings from the Fina, Birgi, Marino Abate and Baglio Oro wineries. The countdown for the Marsala Kite Fest and the Engie Kitesurf Challenge has now started. We can't wait to get started!
